Day Retreat at Schweikher House
“Peace is present right here and now, in ourselves and in everything we do and see. Every breath we take, every step we take, can be filled with peace, joy, and serenity. The question is whether or not we are in touch with it. We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment.”-Thich Nhat Hanh
My humble gratitude to @jolicoeur.wellness and @schweikherhouse for facilitating and hosting such a beautiful retreat. Though I’ve served on and taught in a few retreats in the past, this day-long wellness retreat had a certain flavor of magic being held in this location, a historic home of architectural significance, which I learned that 7 Nobel Prize winners have passed through— wow.
Thanks to Grace for bringing together a full-house of participants and for leading such lovely yoga practice. I shared a 5 Element movement practice in the brisk early spring air, bridging Heaven and Earth within the ground of the elemental and subtle body, followed by a walking meditation around the periphery of the land. At the end of the day an entire family of deer emerged to greet us before they too retreated back into the forest.
I think Zen Shiatsu should always happen in a room with a view of the sky, trees, stream and open field in the horizon. Yoga inside the artist’s studio with sunlight streaming in was delightful. We poured Living Tea (use my code KATARINA15 for 15% off your order) and everyone got a Jolicoeur Wellness tote with a tea sample and gifts. Thanks @marzbrewing for sponsoring the yummy botanical sodas.
But most of all, bows to all who attended and made it a wonderful day to practice together. In the way of the late great Zen master, Thich Nhat Hahn, may we walk with peace in every step.
